Description

Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLineâ program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country.  Donated phones, batteries and accessories will be disposed of properly or refurbished for resale and reuse, with proceeds going to victims of domestic violence.  You can also check with other local cell providors to see what types of programs they have. 

No matter where the phone came from or from what carrier they can still be turned into any retailer.

Please add to this tag if you know of any other organizations that recycle cell phones or batteries. 

One other benifit to old cell-phones that are not active with a service provider.  Most of them will still allow the 911 calls.

From:Lisa Perrell - In our store we're collecting used cell phones to send to Cell Phones For Soldiers. (www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com) The $ from the recycled phones is used to buy phone cards for the troops to call home. It's so easy to put a basket and a little sign on your condiment bar. We collected over 60 phones the first week!
