Hi Ziba,

Can you explain what you mean by "capacity building projects", in what sense "capacity building"? 

Just a thought Ziba, would it be an idea to share the strategic Nike (or CR) "pillars/initiatives"  through the Nike V2V and allow people that have volunteer efforts link  to Nike's strategy. This could be a way to stimulate people bring forward volunteer work. You can will end up with a "portfolio" of volunteer work/projects, run by Nike people of which the work can be linked to Nike's strategy. In addition, Nike employees are allowed to spend 5 (paid days) on volunteer work.

I may be "missing the boat" here completely in trying to understand where you want to go with Nike's V2V community, but it's just an idea.

Does anyone have good articles or books that talk about the connection between volunteering/social intrapreneuring/entrepreneuring and attracting/motivating best of the best talent?  We are building the biz case and have some good grist but could always use more intelligence/evidence....P

For the Nike v2v version, where at leats one of the objectives will be to recruit employee volunteers to participate in capacity building projects, it would be awesome to have tags or something in the profile that allows folks to list their skills/ competencies.....a bit like linked in.

 Does V2V allow you to recommend friends to other members?

Tags are a great way to search for people who share similar interests.

Adding Related Actions is also a great way to gain visibility for your action.

Recommending actions to your Favorites is a strong word of mouth marketing tactic.

Updating your action and keeping the Conversation fresh and frequent is also key.

Bottom line is that it is a combination of these activities together that will help you gain the strongest participation and the highest quality participation for your action.   

I have found that the members of our community are extremely smart, and they find creative ways to find the demographic of people they are looking for to support their action.  The key is providing the right tools for them to leverage to accomplish their goals. 

Ziba, I think tags can express the interests quite well.  What we could do, when building the Nike V2V is stimulate people to tag also the skills they would like to share. That could work quite well and even stimulate Starbucks V2V members to also tag themselves that way!

We're now working in exposing the actions acording to their expiration date (still under discussion). This can make the matching more efficient. Going deep in defining specific time dedication for each person and action makes the overall handling of V2V too complex and does not help much the average user (maybe a plug in later, for advanced users).

If people agree on what to do and are inspired by each other they figure out a way to work together.

The best thing is when a group can build the way to action together. At this point, I would focus on facilitating good encounters. 

Could there be a place where folks could register who (a) have interests and (b) have time that they are willing to give.

 THEN, when there are projects that need expertise, they can peruse and invite folks to participate in a particular action
